A somewhat crash-prone PowerPC emulator that runs on a variety of operating systems and can emulate Mac OS 7.5.2 through 9.0.4. You can get it from http://www.gibix.net/dokuwiki/en:projects:sheepshaver.

Tips:

  • The Apple Platinum Soundtrack (Mac OS 8.5 and later) often crashes the emulator when enabled.
  • The ROM from a Quadra 900 is generally regarded as the best one to use with SheepShaver.
  • SheepShaver crashes quite often when the hardware acceleration (a.k.a. QuickDraw acceleration) option is enabled in the GUI.
