Modula Tall

From Traxus

Jump to: navigation, search

Modula Tall is the typeface used on the Marathon title screens and packaging. It is a condensed sans-serif face. It has a number of distinctive features. One is that the characters are so narrow that diagonal strokes are virtually eliminated to promote legibility, causing characters like "M" and "N" to use lowercase forms as capitals. Another is that the "N" has a corner at the top, in contrast to the "M".

Lookalikes

Barcode

Barcode is quite similar to Modula Tall in letterforms, but it is even more condensed. It is a title case font, being composed of only the capital forms of letters.

Chingolo Pro

Chingolo Pro is generally similar in letterforms, but does not have the condensed spacing of Modula Tall. The cornerless "N" resembles the "M", and the numerals lack the characteristic slant.

Shortwave Gothic

Shortwave Gothic has a rounded top on the "N" like the "M" rather than a corner like Modula Tall, the inner openings have corners, and the cross strokes of letters like "A" and "H" have a slight slant.
