Bernhard Strauss is the mastermind and father of all modern Earthly A.I. development. He was on board the UESC Marathon and was in stasis for the three hundred year journey to Tau Ceti. During the Pfhor invasion, Strauss was captured and Durandal at some point refers to Strauss' death.^{[citation needed]} There was no recorded direct interaction between the player-character and Strauss.^{[citation needed]}

Plans for Tau Ceti

Strauss knew of the ten cyborgs placed on the Marathon.

Relationship with Durandal

Strauss interacted closely with Durandal, and may have been aware of his rampancy before the invasion of the Pfhor.^{[citation needed]}

In a terminal on the level Blaspheme Quarantine, Tycho taunts Durandal about Strauss:

Durandal!- I know of Strauss' abuse, of your shame on Mars.

Durandal resents being humiliated by Strauss, stating on the level Nuke and Pave:
